Life under Obama: Day 235

Wow, you take one little nap and suddenly the health care bill passed.  I sure have to remember to watch the news once in a while, I mean who even heard that anything was going on.  Last I remember there were some marches going on, Pelosi was calling them astroturf then WHAMM!
 
Maybe I tripped and hit my head. I could have turf toe.  But that would mean that the protests WERE astroturf.  If they were, I did not get my check.  Did you? 
Somebody must also have astroturfed every poll taken in the last year.  Do you think Karl Rove is behind all this?  I was thinking maybe Willie Nelson.  Except these protesters pay their taxes.  And most of them can put together a coherent sentence. I would bet that the average Tea Partier read more of the actual bill than the average Representative or Senator.

Please call me fishy.

I would take it as a personal badge of honor if you would turn me into the White House as "fishy".  If it helps, I have had fish in the past, I have been fishing (although not ice fishing) and if you squint, I look kinda like one.  According to Whitehouse.gov, they only want to report on  things that talk about health insurance reform as quoted below:
If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

Now I will say it; This bill is a piece of crap.  It smells like dead fish.  I would not even use it to wrap dead fish.  This bill is so bad that it wants to be called Ted instead of Bill.  This bill is so bad it even Congress won't read it.   This bill is so bad Congress had to leave town for a Month.  This bill is so bad I can't even come up with any more lame jokes.
 
There, that should be enough to be reported shoudn't it?
 
In the meantime, read the piece of crap, learn everything you can about and help to defeat it.  Write your Congressman and go to the league of American Voters and donate to their ad campaign.  A small donation now will hurt a lot less than the healthcare you will get (or not get) in future if this stinker passes.  League of American Voters
 
If  you love your parents or grandparents don't let this pass.  They will become expendable quickly as this program needs to cut costs.

Change he hoped for.

In my everyday job, I get a lot of chances to work at bank branches.  One thing that was pointed out to me was the increase in people turning in change.  You know, the big jars of pennies that people have been saving for their whole lifetime.  Apparently people have been turning change in at a greatly increased rate. I guess that means that people are hard up for money these days.  I can't for the life of me imagine why. But that is not my focus of this post.
 
In the past I remember reading about the fact that the US mint issues pennies more often than they should because people hoard pennies. Some went on to lament the cost of making pennies. Check this Snopes article for info on that. 
 
I think Obama is a genius!  He has figured out how to get people to stop hoarding pennies.  He figured that if he increased the perceived value of a penny that people would start caring about them again and put them back into circulation.  So by destroying the economy, he could save the government the $74 million that it cost to make the pennies.  Then he can leverage the savings 100,000 times to pay for the stimulus package.  If only he had told us!  I am sure that everyone can agree to come together for his "Change" that we can believe in.

Why I am the Missouri Capitalist.

There are many people that think that the government should take care of the needs of the people.  These people tend to believe in many "rights" in addition to the United States bill of rights.  This is wrong.  As a matter of exercise, this is the text of the "Bill of rights".
 

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.


Amendment II

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.


Amendment III

No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.


Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.


Amendment V

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.


Amendment VI

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.


Amendment VII

In Suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re-examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.


Amendment VIII

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.


Amendment IX

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.


Amendment X

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
 
As I read these rights, the only ones that "give" the people anything are those which protect the people from the government. Specifically the federal government.  Everything else is a limitation on the federal government.  This is the basis for our government. Protect the people from the government and keep the federal government under control.
 
Now people are pushing for more government involvment in our lives.  This is evidenced by calls for  increases in welfare spending, healthcare, smoking bans, nationally mandated d.w.i. alcohol limits, and cafe standards for automobiles.  The list could go on and on, however I think you get the point.
 
 Many good people believe that they are helping people by championing a Health Care bill of rights or some social program to help the "poor".  Many of these people are Christians of one faith or another.  I have heard people from most Christian faiths  propone these policies.  I have heard bishops, cardinals, priests and lay people talk in favor of these things. I am not as well educated theologically as many of these people.  However, I think that all of these people have missed a very major point.  God wants us to believe and trust in him.  God loves us and has promised to take care of us.
 
The cruxt of my argument that I will put forth is that God does not need government although governments need God.  In the bible you can see examples of God using governments to make points.  One example would be instilling Joseph in the government of Egypt to make a point about God's power and how listening and obeying God can get you through hard times.
 
One thing that you will not find, is an incidence of God needing the help of government to get something done.  I don't believe that he parted the Red Sea by requesting a bill be intoduced and  put through committee to be passed and signed that would tax people, and in turn would start a program that would study the issue of the Red Sea and the percieved threat of the army approaching from them behind only to fund an engineering study, which would in turn be reviewed by courts only to figure out that they don't have the technology to part the Red Sea.  No, God had Moses stretch out his arms and the winds blew and parted the sea.
 
Please note that God chose to use Moses just as Jesus normally had people take part in the miracles that he performed.  God uses our beliefs and actions to show his power.  Some people confuse this use of people with the need to involve governments. 
 
How can we take care of the poor without the government?  There are so many of them.  Charity can never take care of so many!  If Jesus could feed thousands with a few fish and loaves of bread, we can surely take care of many more than we think. In order to accomplish it, we have to have faith in God.  God has given us a system that will work.  A system that will help the most people and will allow for there to be enough for everyone and for charities to not be overwelmed.  That system is called capitalism.
 
I will state unequivically that capitalism is the best form of government that has ever been designed and that is because, I believe that is one of God's greatest gifts to us.  Obviously not his greatest gift, which would be his only begotten son, Jesus.  Capitalism is so special because it encourages people to better themselves.  Isn't that what the bible trys to teach us, to be be better people?  What other form of government by its very nature, encourages personal betterment? None.
 
Communism is pure evil in every sense.  It is a system where an elite class determines what other people do, when they do it and how they do it.  There is no room for religion of any sort and no place for freedom or liberty.  The people who say that communism is good in its pure form where everyone is equal are wrong about that too.  Any government without freedom and  liberty is bad.   In its purest form you are may be working for the "common good" but the common good could be that you need to die.  Sounds good to me!
 
Socialism is a step between capitalism and communism.  In a socialist society the governments lets you make some choices, but the government still knows what is best for you.  You are given limited choices and are still at the mercy of central government.  The government wants you succeed, just not too much.  If you are too successful, you must have hurt someone else to get there so you need to pay extra taxes as punishment for your success.
Socialism always fails.  This is proven economically time and again.  The more free a country is the better it does.

How Obama Changed my life. Day twenty five.

We are a quarter of the way to 100 day mark!  How things have changed!  Now Congress does not even read bills before they vote on them.  That is change that we can believe in.  Imagine the time savings that we can generate if we all did our jobs that way.  Students would not read books (or even cliff notes) before writing book reports, reporters would not ask pertinent questions before writing on important topics like global warming.  Writers could sell tons of books about anything and just change the title.  Why didn't anyone think of this earlier?

It is funny how there used to be complaints of how lobbyists wrote bills.  At least someone acted like they read the things before they voted.  I know Nancy Pelosi really had to get to Rome.  When in Rome do as the romans (I think she would make a great Gladiator).  Or maybe I just want to see someone knock her silly.... Of course anyone that says that 500 million American jobs are being lost every month may not need another hit of whatever it is she gets in San Fran.

At least we can console ourselves that now a health care department has been slipped into the bill that will limit payments to doctors.  I would hate to see those doctor jerks improve their paycheck by improving their medicinal skills and trying  harder to be good doctors.  Don't pay the doctors when you increase the earned income credit, thats what I say.

Thank you Obama for passing a plan that even the stock market doesn't like.  How does it feel when your stimulus package that is your first major piece of legislation actually makes the market drop?  I can't wait to see your next effort!  If at first you don't succeed spend more next time.

How Obama changed my life. Day fourteen.

Obama my friend, I cannot believe that it has been two weeks already.  Do we the same feelings that we used to?  Do you still love me?  Of course the current polls show your approval rating polling less than how Bush began his first term.  How things change!
 
Sorry about Tom and that other lady that stepped aside because of those pesky tax issues.  It almost makes one think that there should be a more fair system of taxation.  Maybe you could call it the "fair tax".  Or is that already taken.  Maybe you should check fairtax.org.
 
Also sorry to hear that Norm Coleman got a favorable ruling from that judge in Minnesota.  Have to remember to pay those judges next time.
 
I hope our next two weeks together are even better!

How Obama changed my life. Day Thirteen

Today Obama made me realize that paying taxes is only for suckers.  Unless of course you are applying for an administration job, at which point you have to pay at least some taxes before getting a cush job.
 
Obama also made me realize that I must be really anti-american to not want THIS stimulus plan passed.  This plan is the perfect plan.  It cam from Stan in the tan van man.  Seriously it came from Peolosi in the .... what ever rhymes with osi.

How Obama Changed my life. Day twelve.

Well even Obama couldn't make Arizona win the Super Bowl.  

It would appear that he may not even have the votes to pass the stimulus bill.  Mr. President, how have we let you down that you will not let us - let you take our money and then spend it lavishly as if it were your own.  Was it not just this very week that you were serving $100 per serving steaks in the super heated Absence of Color house? 
I was really looking forward to my share of the community organizing money. 
How could I forget the free contraceptives for life.  Bye the way, is Michelle really pregnant? I saw a story on that somewhere.  If that is true, how will you ever face your population control friends.  You would have committed the worst sin ever of having three children!  It will be interesting (if true) to see how the media treats an Obama baby versus a Palin baby.  Remember the major media reporting the stories of Trig not being born by Sarah.  (No media bias there).

Well good luck with that whole stimulus thing.  And I mean the whole thing as the Republicans seem to have found some left over brains and are not going to vote for it. So it is all yours baby. (There is that baby thing again.)

How Obama changed my life. Day Eleven.

Obama, my faith is shaken (not stirred).  Why oh great one are you not able to make the recovery faster?  Today you said that the recovery will take "years not months".  Oh wise one, have we failed so miserably that even you cannot recover faster?  Or is your slogan of change that we can believe in correct because:

  1. Anyone can believe in slow tedious change.
  2. Your change will be too imperceptible to see in less than a few years.
  3. Your "ideas" are horribly bad.
  4. Socialism really does not work, but if you lower expectations enough people will not think its you.
I think I speak for most Americans, when I say that we were kinda hoping for change with positive, quick results.  Not change that sucks.  If we wanted that, we could have voted for Hillary.  But who am I to question the great Obama?

How Obama changed my life. Day Ten.

Double digit's already!  But who is counting anyway.  Sara Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, any freedom loving American to name a few.

I am glad that Obama chose to have the most ethical administration ever.  I can't imagine who he would have picked otherwise.  Daschel is the last possible victim.  What does Tom need with a Cadillac and driver in South Dakota anyway.  (Or was he North?)  It does not really matter anyway.  

$100,000 in back taxes.  It really starts to explain why Democrats like to raise taxes.  They don't pay them anyway!  A tax cut to a Democrat just means that they are stealing less.

I am taking odds on how long until the next Illinois governor is indicted.  My guess is 16 months, 3 days, four hours and 26 minutes.  Approximately.

Thanks Obama for making the unions more powerful with your executive orders today!  Guido will be so thrilled.  It's always great to give the Mob more power.  Yeah that "card check" thing will make everybody feel better...  I am sure no intimidation will ever happen - On a side note - real story - my Dad worked for a steel company that had an incident of a union guy chasing a manager with a chain saw during a strike.  No charges ever filed.  Get ready for more of this.

Suprise! The FBI says gangs are responsible for 80% of all violent crime.  I am sure that someone will do a story on the middle class Christian white guy gangs very soon.

How Obama Changed my life. Day eight.

Today Obama changed my life in the biggest way yet.  He successfully made the house Republicans come together on an issue of importance!  Congratulations President Obama!  You rock!  Peace in the Middle East must be next.

The Senate will be fun to watch.  A stimulus package that is 100 Democratic will show whether or not this crap can work and who is to blame.  Every sane person knows that it can't, so we will get to count the inmates in the asylum. 

The fun of this really goes south with each Senate Republican vote, so I think we should offer the Republicans a free trip to the moon for the next few months just so they can't vote.

How Obama changed my life. Day Eight.

Obama has reached out to the minority today.  He met with the GOP in the house. Sounds like some were more impressed than others.  It also sounds like the house GOP is planing on not voting for the bailout.  This is good.  If the last election showed us anything, it is that if you don't have a large enough distinction between the parties, anyone can win.  Obama did.  Even in a Democrat year, someone with the name Hussein should not have won in America.  A competent Republican should have gone to easy victory.

My life was not changed today.  However, if I want to buy an America car, my choices will soon be limited based on what Obama is planning.  Any autoworker who votes Democratic at this point has to be crazy.  I said that when Al Gore ran and I will say it again.  The national Democratic party hates cars.  If you get paid for making cars, you might want to vote for someone who likes to drive.  In particular if they like to drive big expensive SUV's that your company can make a healthy profit selling. (They use things like profit to pay you).

Wow, a week already! Only 1454 days to go. Maybe.  

I see that Obama must be trying to delegate his work.  He had Hillary appoint a Global Warming Envoy.  It must be really hard work keeping it this cold.  Thanks for the snow and ice coming Mr. President.  Thank you for keeping Al Gore quiet for at least a couple of days - although I could have used the extra sleep.
